Used to Facebook?

Here's a brief guide to the differences
between Carnytown and Facebook

First, we need to point out that we are not Facebook and do not aspire do be Facebook. And in fact we might be a bit better in some areas...especially when it comes to business. We provide daily access to hard news about our industry. Blogs, Newspaper articles and RSS feeds all detail the days happenings along with news of Amusement Parks, Water Parks and Zoos.
With that said, we are also a social community that directly involves members of the outdoor amusement business.
OK, I know what you are saying, they are a bit better and bigger than you guys. Yeah, you are right. They are a lot bigger! And they do what they do, they do pretty well. But you will see in the following pages, there is a lot they do not do. And promoting the Carnival business is one they do not do, well. And we, on the other hand, well...we try and we try very hard.

Facebook Top News/Most Recent (of members)
When you go to facebook this is where the center column opens to. RSS feeds, sorry, you have to get your own.
In Carnytown we use an "Activity Feed" which is located on the left side of every profile page, the opening page and above at the top of this page. We also, of course have the most current news of the business via RSS feeds in the center column

Facebook Profile
In Facebook you click thru via a tab at the top right of the pages
In Carnytown it is the same but the tab is top left.

Notifications/Alerts/Friend Requests
In Facebook you see three small icons above your profile picture that notify you of friends events
In Carnytown you see "alerts" clearly labeled below your profile picture on the frontpage and also on your profile page. Friend requests are also there.

Games/Applications/Fun Stuff
In Facebook they are listed on your homepage in the right column along with the advertising.
In Carnytown, hundreds of games can be accessed by clicking the "arcade" button or on your profile page.
Our sponsors help make our page happen and they are listed throughout the site but mostly on the right column, also.

Friends
In Facebook you can make friends of anybody on facebook and their pictures or icons will appear in a block on the left column. You cannot see any content of anyone who you have not "be-friended".
In Carnytown, you can make friends of anybody on the network (mostly show people) and their icons will also show up in the left column of your profile page. You automatically can reach any member and do not have to "friend" them to send them a message or make a comment.

Owners
Facebook is owned by a pretty snotty, rich guy who has no concept of what Showmen have to deal with.
Carnytown is owned by a couple of Carnies that are...well, we certainly are not rich. And we try not to be snotty.
It probably sounds like we hate Facebook. Not at all. You will see all kinds of ways to send your media created on Carnytown to Facebook, plus we have "badges" that are actually applications that can be embedded on your Facebook page from your Carnytown profile. We like Facebook a lot. But...we were here first.

Publicity
In Facebook only those people who are your friends can see your publicity and what you promote.
In Carnytown, anyone can read your publicity. It is open to all your clients, friends, suppliers and family.

What Facebook does not have that we do!
